Required Qualifications

  • Have at least two years of full time professional field experience (two years of experience must be within the last five years and experience must include an average of 40 hours per week).
  • Meet the requirements to obtain Missouri teacher certification.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Physical Requirements

  • Clinton Technical School is seeking applicants that possess a strong base of machining/metal fabrication knowledge and skills, and has the ability to translate this knowledge to students in a way that has staying power.  This individual is responsible for instruction and curriculum development to meet the standards of Clinton Technical School and Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.  The applicant must ensure that students are exposed to quality educational experiences in both the classroom and shop setting.  The applicant must also work to promote desirable relationships with cooperating agencies and to promote positive community relationships.
  • Desired technical knowledge and skills include; solid modeling in drafting software, computer aided manufacturing software, CNC milling and/or turning, manual machining, and machine shop operation
  • Instructional expectations include developing and maintaining up-to-date objectives, lesson plans and instructional materials.  The applicant must evaluate student progress and recommend necessary adjustment throughout the program to ensure that opportunities for student success are maximized.  The individual must be accessible for student counseling, providing time, privacy and referrals as needed.
  • The applicant must be skilled at communication both verbally and written.  It is important that the individual holds an ethical line while producing valid results in the kindest way possible.  It is expected that all staff members at Clinton Technical School are willing to invest in professional growth and be dedicated to continual improvement of the Clinton Technical School.  The ability to persevere through difficult times, encourage others, and motivate students and colleagues are also desirable traits for this position.

Other Working Terms

  • Employed in March with contract effective July 1.
  • Leave policies and fringe benefits as stated in Board policies.
  • Spend the necessary time required to fulfill the duties of the position. Be a member and participant in the activities of professional organizations vital to the development of professional excellence.
  • Opportunity to continue professional preparation with the prior approval of Administration.
  • Opportunity to attend professional meetings at district expense.
  • Work cooperatively with administration and staff throughout the district.

 

Position Responsibilities

 

  • Become familiar with, enforce and follow all Board policies, regulations, administrative procedures, other directions given by District administrators and state and federal laws as they affect the performance of job duties.
  • Properly supervise all students. All students are to be under assigned adult supervision at all times during school and during any school activity. Except in an emergency, no employee will leave an assigned group unsupervised.
  • Capacity to accept criticism calmly and with dignity, and without adopting a defensive attitude.
  • Participate in the total educational program of the school and exhibit interest in the student activities both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Available for consultation with students, parents, and other personnel before and after regular school hours.
  • Handle requests, misunderstandings, or difficulties through proper administrative channels.
  • Maintain order and discipline in the classroom as will best promote the welfare of the school.
  • Responsible for the safety, conduct, and instruction of students in their charge and for students outside of class hours as assigned.
  • Responsible for the progress of students for whom they instruct.
  • Maintain current knowledge and skill in teaching methodology, subject matter, and contemporary educational approaches.
  • Maintain accurate records for student reporting (grades, attendance, IEP, Section 504, etc.).
  • Take proper care of school facilities and equipment to prevent abuse and misuse.
  • Attend regular and special meetings as required by the administration.
  • Maintain communication and a working relationship with members of the staff and central office staff.
  • Maintain consistent communication and provide frequent feedback to students and parents regarding performance.
  • Dress professionally and in a manner that will not interfere with the educational environment.
  • Work cooperatively with the directors and administrators in the supervision and coordination of the respective programs.
  • Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Building Principal and/or Assistant Principal.
